Sophie

Dogs have owners, cats have staff

Meet Sophie, our 7 month old kitten. We've had her since she was 10 weeks old and she is really really strange. You see, she has some strange habits. One being that she sucks on blankets. The one she is sitting on in the above image is her favorite. Another weird thing about her is that she will eat anything. Her favorite foods are popcorn, shell noodles, chips, oh, and most recently, foam..... She also enjoys the occasional spider or lady bug.
Now, all of these issues don't really bother me. The worst thing about Sophie is that she is evil....

She attacks people and she can be pretty vicious about it... She has left very deep scratch marks on myself and my husband as well as our friends... oh, and she's declawed in the front but that doesn't stop her. She uses her front paws to latch on to an extremity and then claws with her back paws and bites as hard as she can....
And yet another issue.... NOTHING phases her. Not a spray bottle, not a toy to distract her, not anything.... In fact, she likes water so basically she roams around the house and does whatever she pleases(jumping around on counters, biting, clawing up the walls as well as my new kitchen table....) because we can do nothing to stop her...
At this point, I'm thinkin she needs a shock collar....
Got any tips for me? Because we're at our wits end with our little angel.
Oh, and get this, Chase even called up a vet for advice. They told him to contact a pet behavior specialist... the nearest one is in Kansas City...

The kicker about all of this is that any time we ask a vet or someone at the humane society about our issues with her they all just tell us that since she was taken away from her mother at 2 weeks old, she may have these issues the rest of her life and that they will probably just keep getting worse.. awesome

I love our cat and would never give her up because I know that others may not be so nice to her when she is on the attack...
When she's good she's good, but when she's bad........... it's almost impossible to deal with...

Please send tips. We are willing to try almost anything at this point.

  2. Hey Kandace, yeah, she is fixed. The Nebraska humane society will not adopt a kitten out that has not been fixed. So yeah, we don't know what her problem is besides being taken away from her mother too soon. I feel bad for her :(
    Thanks for the comment :)
